Michael Leviton
Former Board Chair, Chefs Collaborative

After seventeen years at Lumière, eight James Beard Foundation Award nominations and honors from Food & Wine, Bon Appétit, Gourmet and Saveur, Michael Leviton left the restaurant industry to pursue newer passions – particularly those related to food systems sustainability. A long time member, and former Board Chair, of the Chefs Collaborative, he is also a member of the James Beard Foundation’s Chef Action Network and has attended two of their Chefs Boot Camps For Policy and Change. A longtime advocate for sustainable seafood and fisheries, Leviton is also on the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch Blue Ribbon Task Force, and has lobbied Congress on behalf of the Environmental Defense Fund. Michael is currently consulting on a variety of food system related projects and working on a book about re-thinking seafood sustainability issues through the lens of Domain Theory.
