Thomas Donahoe is the Acting Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer of the Homeland Foundation.
He has spent more than 30 years in the investments and banking world and has been the Chief Risk Officer at two large multi-strategy hedge funds including Angelo, Gordon & Co. LP. Previously, he was COO of Market Risk Americas for Barclays Capital. Tom headed the Derivatives Hedging Unit at MetLife and also helped launch its first Corporate Risk Management Department. At Homeland, he has guided the Foundation through its 2+ years NYS Attorney General investigation and reformed the governance structure, investment planning, vendor management and foundation infrastructure.
Tom is a frequent speaker at Hedge Fund and Risk conferences and has written various chapters for texts including Compliance Risk and Operational Risk for Multinationals in the Professional Risk Manager’s Handbook. He earned his Financial Risk Manager designation as well as a Professional Risk Manager designation. Tom is active in the Patriot’s Path Council (NJ) and is a member of their Risk Management Committee. Tom is a Trustee, Investment Committee member and Head of the Risk Management Committee at Mount Saint Mary’s College in Newburgh, NY.
He earned his BSFS from Georgetown University. He received a MA from Catholic University of America, a MBA from Fordham University, and a JD from Pace University. He also studied economics and finance at the Universite de Fribourg in Switzerland.
